“My private Paleolith”, 36“ x 36“, acrylic on canvas. I sought to make a painting that was a modern interpretation of a cave wall, with forms emerging but not yet developed, and with 21st-century pigments. I saw a lot of petroglyphs on a recent road trip through Washington state. I identify with the feeling that there is something about a particular rock or a particular location or service that invites Mark making. You never know what might emerge through those cracks and fishers and surface stains.
